Frequently asked questions
What is Nekomendo?
Nekomendo is a free anime recommender. Type an anime you loved and it shows you similar ones, explaining what they have in common. It also has this season's new releases, an airing schedule, retro anime by decade, a quiz to find the anime that suits you and a gachapon that picks one at random.
How does it find similar anime?
It uses recommendations from the AniList community, sorted by rating. If an anime has few recommendations, the list is completed with well-rated anime from the same genres and themes, so there are always options.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
It's free and there's no sign-up. Your lists (watching, plan to watch, completed and favorites) are saved in your browser, and you can make a backup to move them to another phone or computer.
Where can I watch each anime?
Each anime's details show the official platforms listed on AniList, such as Crunchyroll or Netflix, plus a link to JustWatch to check availability in your country. Nekomendo doesn't host or link to unofficial episodes.
What is the anime gachapon?
It's a virtual capsule machine, like the ones in Japan: turn the crank and a random anime comes out. One in eight capsules is golden and holds a hidden gem, a highly rated anime few people know. There's also a special capsule every day.
Which anime are included?
The whole AniList catalog, with thousands of series, movies, OVAs and specials from every era, from 1960s classics to this season's premieres. Only adult content is excluded.
